Ten brand new bicycle lockers are already being deployed this month at the market square in Sandefjord. It is Sykkelbyen Sandefjord that wants to attract more cyclists to the city center with dedicated spaces for each cyclist. With the app Bikely, cyclists can reserve and manage parking in advance. You can also hang equipment on pegs. The mayor will open the bike lockers on 27 August.

-         We are looking forward to getting bike lockers in place in the heart of Sandefjord. Finally, we can offer safe bicycle parking in the center - which is in line with our investment in more cyclists in the transport picture, says mayor of Sandefjord Bjørn Ole Gleditsch.

The solution is particularly suitable for those with expensive bicycles. For example, electric bicycles that are attractive objects of theft get cheap bicycle insurance.

Greener city centre

Smart bicycle lockers are an important measure to get more cyclists to the city centre. More green journeys with environmentally friendly transport is one of the goals of Cykkelbyen Sandefjord:

-         More cyclists in the city center is good for the environment and public health . With this solution, we make bike lockers quickly and easily available to residents - and we get access to statistics about their use, explains project manager Ole Jakob Hansen.

Bikely supplies the bike lockers to Sandefjord Municipality. They are already active in twenty Norwegian municipalities, and have so far contributed to 15,000 safe parking spaces - and everything indicates that many cyclists in Sandefjord will make use of the offer:

The bicycle lockers are manufactured in Norway, and the solution was launched in May 2020.
